Nanny Cam Catches Child Abuse On New York’s Staten Island

In a story that hits close to home for us New Yorkers, a Staten Island nanny was recently caught on hidden camera and arrested for slapping and shaking a 5-month-old girl.

When the baby’s parents became suspicious of their nanny, a 52-year-old Uzbekistan native named Mamura Nasirova, they installed a hidden camera in a carbon monoxide detector overlooking the child’s crib. The camera, set up to be remotely monitored, revealed Nasirova attempting to feed the baby. When the child refused the bottle, Nasirova struck and shook the child.

The mother saw the footage, immediately called the police and rushed home to confront Nasirova. Later, she posted the video online. Nasirova was arrested on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and resisting arrest. She is currently being held in jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail.

The baby reportedly suffered redness and swelling as a result of the abuse.

This story is another in a long line of hidden nanny cam cases that have been cropping up lately, including that of Arkansas mother Whitney Matney who used a hidden camera to catch an abusive babysitter in the act.

What can we learn from all of this? If you’re a mother concerned about the care your child is receiving, it’s always best to trust your instincts.
